Is my photo uploaded to a server when I resize it?
No. All image processing happens entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your photo never leaves your device and is not uploaded to any server. This makes the tool fast, private, and functional even without an internet connection after the page loads.
What is the standard passport photo size in India?
Indian passport photos must be 35mm × 45mm (width × height) at 200 DPI minimum. For digital upload on government portals, the file size is typically required to be 20KB-200KB in JPG format with a plain white background. Use the 'Passport Photo' preset for correct dimensions.
Can I resize images for government form uploads (Aadhaar, PAN, UPSC)?
Yes. Common government portal requirements: Aadhaar/DigiLocker profile: 200×200 pixels. PAN card application (NSDL): JPG under 50KB. UPSC/SSC forms: typically 10-100KB JPG with specific pixel dimensions. Select 'Custom Size' and enter the exact dimensions required by the form.
What is the difference between resizing and compressing an image?

Will resizing my image reduce its quality?
Reducing dimensions will reduce quality because fewer pixels means less detail. Enlarging (upscaling) beyond original resolution adds artificial pixels and usually looks blurry. For best results, always resize down from a higher-resolution original rather than upscaling.
